KONT has never been just a magazine. First and foremost KONT exists by its activities and collaborations in the local context, or how they state it: they are a Magazine ánd vehicle for co-creations in friendship, between sensitive, critical artists and nonartists. For the last 5 years this might have been the case, sometimes more and sometimes less. Now comes a moment when KONT puts its physical medium, the magazine, and its future activities to the test. As a group of makers and thinkers from the latest editorial core of KONT, the Eindhoven art phenomenon is going into residency from February to March at de Kruisruimte. What will happen is somewhere between self exploration and participatory action-research for the future of KONT.

“Valuable exchanges in and around art”, this sounds like it could as well be a title for what Kont is doing. If you know Kont, you know what that means.

KONT was altijd meer dan een magazine. KONT bestaat vooral door haar activiteiten en samenwerkingen in de lokale context, of zoals ze het zelf zeggen: ze zijn een magazine én vehikel voor co-creaties in vriendschap, tussen sensitieve, kritische kunstenaars en niet-kunstenaars. De voorbije 5 jaar was dit waarschijnlijk het geval, soms meer en soms minder. Nu is het moment waarop KONT haar fysieke medium, het magazine, en haar toekomstige activiteiten in de weegschaal legt. In de vorm van een groep makers en denkers uit de meest recente kerngroep van KONT gaat het Eindhovense kunstfenomeen in residentie van 6 februari tot 7 maart bij de Kruisruimte. Wat zal gebeuren is iets tussen zelfonderzoek en participatief actie-onderzoek naar de toekomst van KONT.
Heb je interesse in KONT en in de creaties die tijdens deze residentie zullen ‘gebeuren’? Dan moedigen we je aan een mail te sturen naar redactie@kontmagazine.nl om een persoonlijk bezoek te plannen. KONT zal dus geen publieke tentoonstelling organiseren maar wel uitnodigings-gebaseerde presentaties om een waardevolle uitwisseling te garanderen.
“Waardevolle uitwisselingen binnen en rond kunst”, dat zou de titel kunnen zijn van wat KONT doet. Als je KONT kent, weet je wat dit betekent!
